That’s a very good question Glenn. And the answer is, not really. Supposedly, they get broken down by your digestive system. I infuse my oil at a low temperature and for a short duration. The finished oil is usually a green color and that green color will last for 6 months or longer. It’s usually very terpene-y. Even so, I don’t really notice a difference between the indica and sativa type strains.
Answering the question of whether to decarb the flower before you infuse it into oil. I’ve done it both ways and I found that it is not necessary as it is being decarbed in the oil. If you don’t decarb beforehand, you’ll notice more of a terpene smell which tells me that more compounds are being preserved. The potency is the same, if not a little more potent if I don’t decarb beforehand.
Is the oil MCT Coconut oil? Also, have you tried all flower in food grade isopropyl alcohol and if so, should one decarb before placing the flower into the alcohol?
Hi Rory, thank you for subscribing! The oil in this video is organic MCT coconut oil. It sounds like you’re getting ready to make some RSO. That’s a very good question. I strictly do infusion at home, infusing cannabis into oil. To extract, you’re going to use food grade alcohol, or ethanol, not isopropyl alcohol. But again, I’m not an extractor. You can always post the question in the chat, I’d like to know the answer too. 🙏🏼
The heater/mixer speeds up the infusion process and makes it so it's finished in an hour. The constant stirring speeds up the exploding of trichome heads so they infuse faster.
Hi again Michel,
You grow loads of different strains and turn some of them into oils. Have you found much difference in the high between the different oils?
Glenn
Thanks Michel. Something else we agree on. 😉

Ok. When I infuse, I use a slow cooker/crock pot on low (90c/195f) for at least 18 hours. No stirring required.
I wonder could I get away with a shorter time?

And I never decarb beforehand…..
